Inflections…. and Tomorrow
Two weeks ago, I clocked 40.
1. I feel greatly blessed by friends and family… the mercies I have received, and numerous joyous moments along life’s journey… The course of my life has been shaped not only by the opportunities but grace to be born next door … just being a child to Aderemi and Ode Ojikutu marked the difference … People from where I come from, don’t get this far and more importantly the decision by my parents to send me to the city … and particularly Education.
I have come to acknowledge this important inflection point … my trajectory and story started from there.
2. Early in my career I experienced quick career successes ; …. Forever grateful to awesome mentors and coaches… Never forgetting Tope Ogbedebi. God rest his soul … He was indeed my guardian Angel …
So, I agonised when I had to decide… The decision to leave something so promising; Another inflection point….
3. Over the last fifteen years, I have worked for an organisation that holds so much promise……some folks believe somewhere in my DNA … NNPC is etched.
my mind holds, the possibility of what it can be … the promise of a great Tomorrow.
At business school. I always described NNPC as the ARAMCO of Africa …
And tomorrow ,July 1st, 2022, is an inflection point for the organisation …. The old … NNPC is giving way for the new … NNPC Limited …
NNPC is at a critical juncture where things have to change … structural and attitudinal shift remain critical ingredients for survival … Tomorrow starts NOW… and the clock has started ticking … fully aware that the language of the world has changed … the expiration date of the current field of play is not easily discernable and the need to pivot can’t be under-emphasised
… It’s an Energy play more than anything else… a number of questions comes to mind…
- Are we Pivoting right on time or behind the curve ?
- New company, new culture ?
- Optimism and uncertain future — How big would we play?
- Guaranteeing sustainable ROCE ?
- Price evolution and structural balances in the wider oil and gas or Energy space ?
- Do we shrink fast or grow fast to compete?
- Balance between Value and size?
Surely, today we start the work under the able leadership of @Mele Kyari to define our tomorrow…As NNPC Limited is birthed … Tomorrow would come… I take this inflection … with grace, optimism, and commitment …
